We all know that resources are limited for participatory work and so we think that it's even more important to spend time reflecting on what works and what doesn't and how different approaches can be used to engage and involve communities in a range of activities.We are offering practitioners who are working with communities to explore health and wellbeing issues an opportunity to develop their practice by participating in an Action Learning Programme. This is a series of 3 facilitated workshops where you meet with your peers to share ideas, challenges and explore ways of evaluating your work.
The workshops will be facilitated by Kate Gant and Penny Vincent.
Get Talking: Wellbeing is supported by Staffordshire University, Staffordshire County Council and Creative Health CIC and follows on from the successful Get Talking: Into Action workshops (www.gettalking.info) and a series of events held by Staffordshire Arts and Health Network www.westmidlandsartshealthandwellbeing.org.uk
Who can apply for a place on the Action Learning Programme?
Anyone who is working with a community group on a health or wellbeing project (either in a paid or voluntary capacity) can apply for a place on the programme. We are looking for a range of people including:
- Artists working with communities
- Community Development Workers from the statutory or voluntary sectors
- Members of management committees who are interested in increasing participation of local people in health and wellbeing issues.
Learning from your practical experiences
To be eligible for a place on the Programme you need to be involved in practical work. If you are working in Staffordshire (excluding the area of Stoke- on- Trent) and are taking the lead role in an arts project on behalf of a community organisation or group you may be eligible to apply for a grant of up to £800 from Staffordshire Community Arts Fund. When will the programme take place?
Specific dates tbc in October, December and February, 12.00pm - 2.00pm. The Programme will take place at Staffordshire University, Stoke - on - Trent Campus.
How much will it cost?
The full fee to participate in the Action Learning Set Programme is £50. We are also offering a number of bursaries for people.

We know there will be a lot of people interested in this opportunity so we are inviting to submit an expression of interest by 27 July 2012 to katy@westmidlandsartshealthandwellbeing.org.uk
If after this date we still have any available places on the programme we will extend the deadline.
